Are we seeing new diesels in the SUV market?

I am hearing about Dodge bringing out a diesel-electric Ram pickup?

What about the diesel Jeep Liberty or the diesel LR Discovery?

Isn't Jeep's Liberty with the something rail diesel coming real soon now?

Yes. They are "common rail" engines. This means that the fuel is
maintained at injection pressure in a high pressure passage and an
electrically actuated injector simply admits the fuel-the energy for
injection pressure comes from a mechanical pump driven by the engine.
Cummins PT and Detroit Diesel mechanical and DDEC are also "common
rail" engines, but the actual energy for injection-several
horsepower-comes via the engine camshaft which actuates the injector
which pressurizes the fuel.

The Italians, surprisingly enough, were the people behind this.
