Default Honda remote unlock button doesn't work

I'm posting here because, as yet, my post on this in the Honda group
hasn't generated any response.

The aftermarket remote lock/unlock fobs - new batteries in both six
months ago - stopped working for my 2000 Odyssey LX.

I did a little digging and found
http://www.handa-accessories.com/crv/KEYLESSPROG.pdf which describes how
to get the remote lock receiver in 2000 Odysseys and other Hondas to
recognize the remotes. By following it, I at least got the van to
recognize the remotes - but only the LOCK button. Repeated presses of
that button toggle the locks up and down (i.e., alternately lock and
unlock the doors), but the unlock button does nothing. This is the case
with both of the fobs I have.

So my question is how do I get the remotes working as they should:

- LOCK button locks the doors every time it's pressed
- UNLOCK botton unlocks the doors every time it's pressed
- neither button performs its opposite intended function

If it worked before and it doesn't work now, it's quite possible the
contacts on the remote is dirty and needs cleaning.

Take it apart and clean the underside of the buttons and their contact
points with alcohol.

Thanks for the suggestion.

My concern though is that BOTH remotes worked fine, then BOTH stopped
working, and now BOTH have a nonfunctioning unlock button and a lock
button that toggles the locks up and down.

Were the problem just with one, I would say that it was the unit, its
contacts, its battery, whatever. But the problem is consistent across
units.

Alot of times you will also have to reprogram your remote. I have had
to do this on my unit. All you have to do is follow the instruction book or
the little manual that came with the car. If it isn't in there, call any
honda dealer and they will help you to reprogram it.

Good Luck,

Fwed
