Default tire shopping

The cheapest I have seen the T1R's in 195/50/15 is $100usd delivered. That
is a lot more than the Falken's 912 at $62usd delivered. I have no opinion
of them, other than that they would have to be a 50% better tire to make
them atractive to me

I see you're using Motzarella, I believe there are a whole lot of folks
using them now that so many ISPs have stopped offering Usenet.

You're very welcome but Motzarella deserves the thanks!

Thank ye sir,

The stiffer sidewall may trasfer into a bit harsher ride, but I kind of
like that when the result is a faster turn-in response, especially with
adjustable shocks that are already set to the lowest resistance for
street use.

The Falkens are $260.00 plus about $120.00 for mounting, balancing and a
good alignment, which her car needs badly.
Not too bad overall at about $380.000 total.

A set of T1R's mounted, balanced and with an alignment would cost her
about $520.00 and the tires would not last as long as the all-season
Falkens.
That is why I ruled out all high-performance tires when cost was given
as a major factor.

To me, the extra $140.00 and the faster replacement period are worth it
in trade off for the increased performance, especially considering that
I do not need all-seasons or dedicated snow tires where I am now.

Her priorities in a tire are different than my own, so I thought that I
would ask about other people's recommendations.

Good results, as usual.

Thanks again,

Pat

Well, I probably would not have bothered to find it without you and
Chris M., so you both get the thanks from me.

This sever is keeping messages for far longer than Time Warner ever did,
and I have no need for binary newsgroups, so this works great for me.

If Motzarella keeps working well for me for at least a few months, I
will hit their paypal donate icon and send a buck or two to them to
thank them as well.

I struggled with the replacement tire issue and decided on the Kumho
Solus. I made the right choice. Here in Georgia, USA we are not
concerned with winter just good year round tires. These are lasting
better than others and provides excellent ride and stick.

I see 4 types of Kumho Solus model tires listed, and none in 195/50/15.
Are your tires in this size, and if so, what was the cost including
delivery and/or mounting and balacing?

I have not placed the order yet and will check these out. If the size
and price on the Solus tires are right then, they are a consideration
along with the Falkens.

I have driven on a number of Kuhmo tires and they have been great for
the most part, but I have still not tried any of that brand for my own car.

My next sticky, wear-out fast tire may be the Hankook Ventus.
I drove a 1995 Miata with a nice suspension set-up and an aggressive
alignment on a set of the Hankooks recently and I may like them better
than the Toyo T1R's for dry driving.
No chance to compare rain driving that day.

Thanks Jim,

Pat
