'91 Fox starting problem
Doesn't have a clutch switch... so better find someone better. It could be a
starter, battery, ignition switch or a wiring issue. "VW_Fox" > wrote in message news:1_625940_4c9dae6509a9e9607a8ddbf7c6bfd8f5@aut oforumz.com... > My '91 Fox has a starting problem. On my Fox the shoulder seat best has to be in before you start it, only the wires that were leadeing up to it were disconnected. All I had to do was twist them together; completing the circuit. I got the car at a huge discount just because it would’nt start, and all I had to do was that. Ha. I want to call the dealer and tell him that he’s a retard. |

I had the similiar problem with my Golf that required me every time to start the engine to pull down on the passive restraint strap so the switch would work by making contact.. Sometimes it seemed like it would not work and I though I was stuck somewhere - this went on for a few days or so as I was too busy to fix it and drove my newer car. I finally removed the switch cover and soldered the two wires together. Just went through inspection. emissions were flying colors with a new cheapo Maremont catalytic converter that has the header downpipe welded to it. 97 bucks. Oddly, the inspection MVs removed the strap and actually would not have be able to start the car had it been in the stock state when they took over the driver spot. You did great getting it for a big discount, congratulations. Harry |
