Default Electrical Problem on XJ

Jeep Cherokee XJ 2000....got in the jeep this morning and noticed the check
gages light came on while driving down the road .... looked all around and
saw the battery gage pegged out .... got to work and later went to lunch and
home and gage is where it should be in the middle.....looking for any
explanations.....clock did reset but nothing else seem bothered...

thanks you all...
