Assuming it's your TJ's build sheet that shows ABS, you'll have to disable
the ABS unless the donor XJ had ABS, which I doubt. Or you could get tone rings installed on the 44's axles. I would be amazed if the Daimler built Dana 35c would use the same
backing plates as the all Dana built and assembled 44, and for the year '90 they have different part numbers: http://www.billhughes.com/90RbrakeParts.pdf We can see the 35 axle tube protrudes through it: http://www.billhughes.com/dana35c/0022.jpg Where the 44 would use an axle retainer. An idea of how the sensor and pick up ring are positioned: http://www.billhughes.com/brakeseq.jpg Your local tool and die maker could cut a notch in the reinforced area of 44 axle to make it work: http://www.billhughes.com/temp/absAxle.jpg But this may be your excuse to remove the dangerous Antilock Brake System: http://www.4x4abc.com/4WD101/ABS_offroad.html God Bless America, Bill O|||||||O http://www.billhughes.com/ wrote: > > i have a dana 44 from an XJ i'm swapping into my TJ that has a d35. > the build sheet i got says i have ABS. will the brakes from my d35 > work with the d44? |

Once again, they are a direct bolt-on.

Jerry owns an off-road shop IIRC so I imagine he has some real-world
experience with this sort of thing. > wrote in message ups.com... > Thanks Jerry! it's just that mr. hughes made a good point. nothing > personal to you at all. i guess we'll find out for sure if they work > or not when the time comes! i got all my stuff on order and it should > be here in a couple of weeks. let you all know how it goes! > > thanks for the replies! > > > Jerry Bransford wrote: >> Once again, they are a direct bolt-on. >> >> wrote: >> > okay ditching the ABS is not a huge deal for the time being. i can >> > always get it to work later on if i feel i really need it. >> > >> > moving on, any suggestions on how to get the tj d35 brakes to fit on >> > the xj's d44? >> > >> >> -- >> Jerry Bransford >> PP-ASEL N6TAY >> See the Geezer Jeep at >> http://members.cox.net/jerrypb/ > |
