Default '93 Del Sol (36K miles) needs new struts - normal wear & tear?

My 1993 Del Sol (that is used as a summer ride) didn't pass inspection this
year; they said the struts were leaking. My question - is this due to the
age of the car? I know things don't last forever but the mileage is low and
this car has been pampered.

The age has gotten to them. Nothing you did or could have done could have
stopped this from happening.
