Default 156 2.0TS warning light

Hi collective!

I'm hoping someone can advise me on a 2000 (W) Alfa 156 I picked up
recently. It has an injection system warning light that's on pretty much
constantly (located at end of Tach red line range). The dealer said that
this was due to the Alfa code system because the radio has been
replaced. Does this mean anything to anybody? Just wondering whether the
dealer is telling the truth or whether I can get them to fix something
before the warranty runs out. They seemed pretty genuine but having
niggles at the back of my mind.

Any experience of this? Sharing would be much appreciated.

Regards,

DMT

According to my manual:
If the fuel injection symbol lights up, there is something wrong with the
fuel system. After turning the ignition key it should go out in approx. 4
seconds.
When you turn the ignition key, the yellow "Code" symbol (in the right lower
corner of the display between speedo and tach) should light up and go out
immediately. When this light doesn't go out there is a "probable" failure in
the code (security) system
If both fuel injection symbol and the "Code" symbol light up, there is
something wrong "for sure" with the Alfa code (security) system.
I find it hard to believe that it has anything to do with the radio.

Had a same problem on my 145. Injection light was turning on each time
when the weather was moist or during rainy days. After exchanging
injector cables never happened again.

Regards!

OK. It's only the one warning light in my case. I read this part of the
manual too but it didn't sway me. I guess the only reason I'm assigning
much truth to what they said is that I guessed integrated radios have
security codes tied to the car in some way. Thanks for your help - I'm
getting more suspicious! I will investigate further.

On my 2000 156SW, the light came on in 2 occasions: When oil was low,
but not too low for oil warning and when my air filter was not working
correct. Being totally non-technical, this is what I understood from the
mechanic.
