What about the towing capacities of the WJ model? What can I safely pull
with a 4 liter automatic?

Thanks Bill. another question about the V-8 rating. Why an extra 1500
pounds for 35 extra horsepower?

It's not the extra 35 HP, it's the longer wheelbase.

Possible stronger drivetrain and trailer package.

Even the old XJ's are rated at 5k lbs. I never felt safe over 2500 lbs or so
without trailer brakes etc.

If I add a tranny cooler should I bypass the stock radiator cooler or add
the new one in series? What kind of pressure do those lines carry?

In series before the radiator, there is some danger of the
transmission running too cold.
Stronger shocks, springs, sway bar, transmission, bigger radiator,
alternator, are all part of a stock trailer package.
