156 gear knob removal

Default 156 gear knob removal

I have just purchased a Momo gear knob, but I am having dificutly removing
the factory fitted one on my car. Can anyone give me some help on how to
remove it safely???

Depends on the engine!
The versions that have the reverse engaged by lifting a ring under the knob:
I don't know.
The other ones (I believe the 3 4-cylinder petrol engines) are quite simple.
Just take a big adjustable wrech, grip the gear knob firmly and give it a
big turn.
The knob will break; this is the only way, as the shaft has a ridge on it
and the knob seems to have been mounted "hot", so the hard plastic more or
less has melted around the shaft.
