Default early ford VIN

Does anyone know where I would find the VIN on a 1915 ford and is there
anywhere I can get info to decode the VIN ; IE: assembly plant,date of
manufacture,options,body style ETC.
Any info would be great THANKS.............DAN

There was no VIN as such. There was a serial nbumber, stamped into the frame on
the left side behind the radiator. That can be used to determine the date of
manufacture - plug it into the search engine at
http://www.model-t-ford.com/tsernum.htm . There is no data encoded in the
number.

Great I'll clean up the frame and see if any numbers show up.

Rechecking that web site, it appears that the engine also has a serial number,
located immediately in front of the radiator hose. You can see part of one in
the left photo on this page -- http://www.model-t-ford.com/tdate.htm . The arrow
in the right photo points to the location of the frame serial number.
