Women driven cars
I am curious if someone out there knows on what brand names and styles
in which women buy their cars most? I assume that the car industry keeps track on the gender for certain style of cars that they are targeting. As an example, I like the style of this Ford Cougar (coupe - 2 doors, late 1990s or early 2000s). My daughter said that this car is mostly driven by women. I don't know where she got that idea. I guess some women have preferences on certain styling of cars more than men. So is there a list somewhere which shows what cars most women buy or preferred? |

It's pretty well accepted that most women prefer SUVs for the feeling of sitting up high. An interesting statistic I saw once stated that ~95% of VW Cabrio owners were women. Since then, I've intentionally checked the driver of every Cabrio I've seen. So far I haven't found even one guy driving one. I don't know what attracts women to the Cabrio, but maybe it's the same thing that attracts them to the Cougar coupe? (cute?) So it seems to fall into two extremes, either massive SUV or micro-mini. -Dave |

So far I haven't found even one guy driving one. I always called those the 'highschool princess mobile'. (after some particular girls I went to HS with, but can't even remember the names or faces anymore.... ) |

Usually the woman driven cars are the ones you will find parked on the curb, or smashed up (lack of ability). Other than that anything "cute". |

I actually didn't care at all. The car was old, I knew I was going to get rid of it soon, and the dents were actually a GOOD thing. Right after I got that car back, all banged up and looking like something out of a horror movie, I started driving in MA. I know that car is the only thing that kept me alive in MA until I was used to the way the locals drive. As soon as I bought a brand new car, the local drivers were deliberately out to murder me. But by then, I'd had enough time to observe the massholes that I was prepared for tactics like that. If I'd have brought that car to MA WITHOUT the dents, I probably wouldn't have survived the first week driving in Massachusetts. But as it looked like the kind of vehicle that is driven by a psychopath, the local drivers gave me plenty of room, always. So my SIL actually did me a huge favor by beating the crap out of my car. -Dave |

SUV moms are also very typical with ingrown cellphones. b. |

"Anon" > says: >I'd had enough time to observe the massholes Hrmph. I much preferred driving with the so-called "Massholes" than I do now with the so-called "drivers" in California. People in Boston drive like they've got somewhere to go, don't suffer fools lightly, and expect you to not be lame. Unlike CA, where among other things people give you the finger for not letting them in when you blow at 'em and/or have to swerve out of their way because they tried to come into the lane you're in on the street from a turn. -Kenny -- Kenneth R. Prior to that was a '62 Ford Galaxie which left the Thunderbird in the dust! My son's girlfriend drives around in a snazzy '67 Malibu. My sister learned to drive using an old Ford pick-up truck with manual steering and stick shift. When she had to shift gears, she used both her hands...and to steer the damn thing around the corner she was practically wrapping herself around the steering wheel while pulling all her weight into it. It was hilarious! ;-) Take care, Heidi |
