They've got 30 years of catching up to do. It will be interesting to see how many people regard landscaping as Caltrans' most important function. I find it disgusting that it was even on the list when there are so many REAL things that need doing. That being said, I recently noticed the beautiful forest they created ~30 years ago on the banks of the 210 through Pasadena. There are even some Moreton Bay fig trees perhaps 6 feet in diameter, which is extraordinarily cool. The bad part is that the freeway is raised through here, and the only people who can appreciate the plantings are the residents of the frontage roads. They'd be a perfect place for kids to play if they weren't fenced off with 6' chain link. -- Cheers, Bev ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++ To define recursion, we must first define recursion. |

They've got 30 years of catching up to do. Nobody uses public transportation because it can't be used. Maps are confusing or even missing, some areas don't have parking, bicycle capacity is very limited, and some areas lack sidewalks and bike lanes for traveling the last mile. I'd like to bicycle to work but I'd have to travel through areas of congested and dangerous detours that have existed for years. There must be an inside joke about ensuring that all Hwy 101 projects are completed five years after they no longer meet capacity needs. Years of detours for a minor upgrade is worse than never touching the road to start with. |

If you get too much erosion, the roads could collapse. >That being said, I recently noticed the beautiful forest they created >~30 years ago on the banks of the 210 through Pasadena. The extra trees also help to offset some of the pollution emitted by all the cars using the road. --------------- Alex |
