Default fully sinthetic oil, how frequently change?

Honda Accord VP, 2002. I use fully sinthetic oil, Mobil 1, 5W-20. How
frequently it should be changed, each 5000 miles or may be somewhat
longer period?

Escape tube is black inside (car has around 50.000 miles, but it was
already slightly black when i bought it used and car had 18,000 miles),
does it means that car burning oil? may be it depend on gas used. I use
87 (manual says 86 or higher).

thanks,

kara

I would increase the oil change intervals to every 10,000miles (or
more) to compensate for the extreme price of the Mobel-1, Or go back to
the regulars stuff (unless the car spends it's weekends at the
racetrack).

the price of synthetic oil is $5.25/quart (not 7.50). It is compensated
by changing oil by myself.

Engine should not responde better (what it means?, run faster?). One
might see the advantage of good maintance (oil changes) on a long
period of time, when your car will start to fume, i.e. will need to
"make" the engine, it completely depends on maintance of oil changes
(and oil quality too).

Elmo, do you put water in radiator? It is worth, $0.76/gallon against
$12.00&gallon of coolant.

a serious response would be to feel free to go by the maximum allowed
time in the owners manual.

if they wanna use synthetic, and run it to the max allowed interval, fine.

personally, id feel slightly better off buying a used car from a private
party that changed the oil regularly with synthetic on their own, rather
than someone who took it to the spiffy lube whenever they noticed the
indicator light (or was that the oil pressure light? i dunno!)
