1998 Explorer - Right front headlight out, changed bulb, didn't help.
My right front headlight is out, I bought a new bulb and put it in, but
nothing changed. The highbeam works, but not low beam. Any help or things to try would be appreciated. |

First, check your fuses. If I remember correctly, there is a fuse for each
headlight - at least on my 95 EB there was. If that's not it, then do you know if you have the lamp out indicator? If you do and it's not indicating that the bulb is out, then the lamp out module is probably your problem. I had this same thing happen to me. Thanks, Tony For replies, please correct my address. wrote: > My right front headlight is out, I bought a new bulb and put it in, > but nothing changed. If you have the message center in the console, then you have the lamp out
system. But I don't think the XLT comes with the message center. It was an option on the Eddie Baurers at the time I bought mine. Did you check your fuses? wrote: > Tony, how can you tell if you have the lamp out module?? I have a '98 > XLT. |

The right and left headlamps have their own fuse, also the highbeams have a separate fuse. Look near the rear of the owner's manual for fuse location and circuit it covers. Mine says ('96) fuse #8 for right headlamp and fog lamp. Highbeams run on seperate fuse #33 On 26 Feb 2005 10:01:10 -0800, wrote: >My right front headlight is out, I bought a new bulb and put it in, but >nothing changed. I will check the fuses when my wife comes home tonight. In the meantime
she is driving with high beams. Luckily no one has flashed her yet Tony P. wrote: > If you have the message center in the console, then you have the lamp out > system. I had the same problem and it was a faulty Lamp Out Module. A fellow
here on the newsgroup was kind enough to email me pictures of the module so I could find it. It is between the front seats under the cup holder. |
