Default 88 fox gearshift wonder.!!!!

I reported this last year I believe my car would not shift
in gears manuel trans.I consulted teh Clinton book and it advised I needed a
setup tool
from V.W. I screwed around in the end I called my deutshe buddy
exVW mechanic He came over started fidling around a little bit and by feel
checked it out and valla?? (frensch)it worked
totally by feel.I quess thy don't make mechanics like that anymore stil runs
O.K.

If you can put the Fox on a lift, change gears manually at the transaxle,
its the linkage causing the problem.
The most common problem with shifting is the nylon bushing worn out. After
replacement, the shifting mechanism needs adjustment again.
Many manuals quote special VW tools in various parts of repair work. Most
of these aren't needed by an experienced mechanic.
