99 Jeep Wrangler Battery Gauge
I have a 99 Jeep wrangelr 4cyl 5spd. I have always had those odities
that everyone talks about, the insturment cluster suddenly dying and then coming back (mine actually comes back if I turn on the right turn signal). Just yesterday i went to start my jeep after a short stop and it wouldn't turn over. I played with the battery connections and then it started up. This happened twice. Then today The "Check Gauges" light went on and my battery gauge spiked all the way up. It dropped down a couple of times when I was idle at a light then would spike again a few minutes later. Does anyone know what may be causeing this and how to fix it? I would also like some info about how to fix the other oddities I have. I know I am not the only one who has been experiencing them. 99 Jeep Wrangler Battery Gauge
A gent named George sent me this, maybe it will help.
---------------------- Recall 99V117000: Instrument Panel Ground Screws Loose The left side and right side instrument panel wiring ground attachment screws could loosen over time. If the left side screw loosens, the instrument panel gauges may not function when the headlamps are turned on. If the right side screw loosens, the defroster blower motor may not function. Dealers will remove the ground screws, drill a new pilot hole adjacent to the original hole, and the screws will be reinstalled in the new holes. Owner notification began May 31, 1999. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Chrysler at 1-800-992-1997. Also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Auto Safety Hotline at 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236). --------------------------- A bad ground can make the computer go insane also as it tries to steal grounds from various sources.
