Oil in intake plenum - 88 3.0 Caravan
Oil clogs the tube leading to the MAP sensor, causing a Code 13. I
have to pull the tube with the engine running to suck the oil back into the manifold, then shut off the engine, blow the oil out of the tube and clean it with solvent. Every few tankfuls I have to do this. The vehicle does not have any oil smoke while running. However, the next day after a freeway run, there will be a huge amount of oil it has to burn off for a minute, then it runs clean. What's going on? Is there an explanation for the oil accumulation? |

I'm no expert but I would suggest an intake gasket is gone. I've been down
that road on my Dakota (V8 Magnum) and old 1999 Chevy Lumina (V6 - no longer own this car). If you car seems to be "consuming" oil and seems to have lost a little power (valves rattling when power is required like stepping into it) then this is most likely the problem. I don't see how a MAP sensor can suck oil when all it is connected to is a vacuum line and an electrical connector. If you meant to say the EGR, well that's another story. |

Nope, I meant MAP sensor. See the thread I started he
http://tinyurl.com/2fysn Engine sounds normal, no rattling, but it could be a gasket. Somehow lots of oil is collecting up there. Always a mystery until you open it up to see ... -gw "DaveR" > wrote: >Are you sure you are talking about a MAP sensor and not the EGR???? >I don't see how a MAP sensor can suck oil when all it is connected to is a >vacuum line and an electrical connector. Got it from a wrecking yard. Dozens of perfect ones to choose from, all the same. They gave it to me for free since they were closing. -gw Circuit Breaker > wrote: >Where did you get that hose, and what did it cost you??
