If 'twere me I'd talk to Dave first--he treated me very well on a YOM plate trade, and I trust him. BTW, your '63 CA plates are legal because they have been continuously registered or non-opped since issue, not because they are callsign plates. I currently have two cars still registered with their original '63 plates in the standard numbering. Another BTW for those who wonder why they can't use '63 plates as YOM plates in CA--it's because the YOM program allows for the use of obsolete plates, and the '63 plates are not obsolete. They're still in regular use on vehicles such as Don's and mine. '63 plates in the regular numbering series must remain with the car they were originally registered to. Still, the continuous registration is critical. If you let them lapse, you will probably have to turn them in and get them replaced with the same numbers (your callsign) in the current plate style.
