Default ford ranger, computer/sensor problem?

OK, I'll start right off with tech questions:
92 ranger, extra-cab, 4wd, 4L v6

Is the only computer the one behind the drivers side folding seat, or
is there another behind one of the front kick panels?

My odd problem; When I accelerate in a gear, it feels a little 'flat',
especially at part throttle settings. When I accel. in the same gear,
giving it slightly more throttle as I go, when the throttle reaches a
certain point, the power suddenly jumps as though I just goosed the
gas.

The obvious guess was throttle position sensor- changed it, not much
change, but I think there was some improvement.

I'm in temp living for my new job, so I don't have my manual,
multimeter, or much oin the way of tools.

Thanks,
Dave
