I think our racing environment must be a factor in how much we enjoy
ourselves, and new hardware is part of that.

While I would never go as far as a full cockpit type setup, since iRacing
fired up my racing enthusiasm again I have been looking at 3 monitor
setups... I'm only one screen and a TH2Go short of trying it anyway. Ok,
and a vid card up to driving the massive resolution required. :-)

Sadly while that might improve my immersion, it'd also increase my
electricity bill, and the way energy prices have risen this year that's
got to be a consideration. I also think it'd be unlikely to increase my
laptimes... probably quite the opposite!

One thing I have always wanted to do, but never got around to, is putting
a gaming monitor onto a big, wall-mounted arm so that it can swing over
my wheel and fill my field of vision more (practical now I can afford to
replace my CRT... though I do still like my CRT for gaming). There might
be eyestrain concerns there, I suppose, but it's another of my
hypothetical PC projects which has been on the back burner for several
years.

My monitors are suspended from a large frame of 2x4s that look like
an old-style two-legged goalpost. Before now, both monitors were
hanging from the crossbar over my bed, with cordless keyboard/mouse
I used the computer while lying down. Currently, the big main
monitor is up much higher and moved over slightly so that I can sit
down while using it. The board/platform for the steering wheel
sticks out from the side of the goal post so that the MOMO wheel
case is positioned partly under the monitor. It's definitely fun.
Currently I'm pushing through the third arcade level. While sitting
in a chair I'm not getting the same motion sickness I developed over
the years of lying down while gaming. Yea.
