In my recent races I have been starting to get 5th-6th pos and even one 4th
pos. Like Andrew I hang back and take most of my places by people coming off
the track or disconnecting. This week I didn't even bother to qualify, safe
in the knowledge that iRacing would put me at the back of the grid at the
start.

After I came from Laguna and went to Lime Rock again I found that my initial
lap times were quite good for me. Managed a personal best of 01:06.716
during a time trial and 01:07.814 in an actual race. But alas, as the week
progressed I found myself getting more cautious after some incidents in the
early part of the week and my race times went back up to 1:09 on average
dipping down to 1:08 at best.

It amazes me how many very talented drivers are throwing away their races. I
often beat drivers that can lap 1:04-1:05 simply because these drivers keep
coming of or disconnect. I guess this proves that targeting the improvement
of ones iRating can improve their overall race results.

iRacing's system for getting similar drivers together, seems to be working
pretty well now. On average I see one maybe two aliens on the track at any
one time (I know they are aliens because they can type messages whilst
racing - thus must have at least an extra arm....).

It's bizarre and I never thought I'd ever think this, but I'm actually
looking forward to next week and Laguna Seca again. Although in other sims I
used to hate this track, in this one I really like it. I think it suits my
driving rhythm a lot better than Lime Park. It could be because the corners
are much further apart.

With my enjoyment of iRacing I have found that I'm not even getting
interested in SimBins next offering, something that I find quite
worrying....

LOL - for a sec there I thought you had taken Larry up on the Visine
advice! ("clears that up")

PS - seems it was good advice from Larry - you do give those eyes a good
workout!

I can attest to ZZ's maturity, Larry, I've been racing with him for
over a decade ;-) I guess his remark was tongue-in-cheek and maybe
missing a smiley here and there. On the subject of iRacing, for me the
frustration has mostly outweighed the fun involved by quite a margin.

All the best, Uwe

I'm really sorry to hear that Uwe. As you 've seen from my iR posts, I have
my thoughts too LOL. However for me, as long as they continually improve
the system and LISTEN to us when we have a concern, I'm in it for the long
haul.

As for the Fanboy thing, I just HATE that friggin' word with a vengence, no
matter where it's applied
