99 Caravan brake grinding noise even after replacing pads/disks
I have a 99 Caravan, and I replace my pads (I used the cheapest pads I
could get from Murray's) & turned my disks (within specs) last year. However, for the last 5 months, the brakes were squeeking and constantly made the sound of grinding (near the end of my stop). During that time I was constantly checking the surface of the disks and they were OK. Finally, I got tied of it and replace the pads with ceramic pads & replaced the disks with new ones. When replacing these, I noticed a small indentation forming on the caliper bracket, but didn't give it too much thought. I put the anit-squeek grease on the back of the pads and on the caliper bracket where the pads & caliper contact. After replacing the above, everything seemed great for about a week. Then we notice squeeking and then once in a while at the end of a hard brake, a grinding noise. Now I'm thinking of replacing the calipers, guide pins, and posssibly the caliper bracket (because of the indentation I saw). However, with the brackets at $350 for two wheels, I'm begining to think not to do it. Anyone with some ideas? |
