re e46 aircon strange smell

Hi

It was suggested i change the microfilter, can anyone tell me where i find
it and how it is changed.

The " strange " smell is coming from the evaporator under the dashboard.
You may have a blocked moisture pipe that runs away any water from the
evaporator, when you park the car and kill the engine. If this pipe (
rubber hose) is blocked then bacteria will flourish in the warm damp tray
of the evaporator. When the bacteria die they cause a bad smell when you
switch on the AC / heater. Solve the problem by ensuring the hose is
clear and using an aerosol disinfectant spray treatment into the AC/heater
ducts.
