Default Some answers? ? ?

I've been reading the book The Underground History of American Education
online at http://www.johntaylorgatto.com/underground/index.htm. I am
about halfway through chapter 3, reading sections now and then as I have
time.

As I read it seems there may be some evidence here why the driving
behavior on the roads is so bad. I've seen driving as a model for various
aspects of society as a whole. So much of society, government, politics,
etc is applied to transportation that it made sense that way. At least to
me. However in reading this 'book' I am getting a sense that from the
very start people in the USA are conditioned to be these rude, selfish,
MFFY types along with that sense that other people need to be controlled.

It also seems to explain to me the way various people in this newsgroup
behave. How there is essentially a divide between the 'schooled' and
those who teach themselves. Those of us who teach ourselves learned to
drive properly, finding it a simple task and frustration with the rest of
the population. Meanwhile, those who are 'schooled' and don't learn on
their own, don't read on their own make up the trolls and those who call
for obedence to laws from on high.

It's been an interesting book thus far and I've seen many parallels from
my own school experiences and why school always seemed to be a struggle
against 'the system'.
