BMW C1 Scooter

Vespa has just re-entered the USA market within the last couple of years, but I assume that there are gov't regulations covering scooters and bikes similar to those that keep the best of the world's cars out of the USA. Then again, the USA has never been a big market for scooters, so it may just not be cost effective to import, stock spares, and market the little buggers here. It would probably be the DOT and EPA that set standards. Might be worth a look at what sort of rules govern the import of scooters. Maybe a self import would be doo-able. I think that the BMW scooter, at least the sort of covered (hardtop) model that caught my attention was fairly pricey. With the US$ at an all time low - now might not be the time to go shopping for one. DS |
