Default rFactor: Dedicated server need Directx 8.1 ?

Why in hell is the dedicated server running with at least Directx 8.1
installed ?
I was trying to install it on my linux server with wine (LFS Dedi-Server
with no problems), but with directx 8.1 its really a problem :-(

Any Ideas ?

Daniel

According to a post by an ISI dev at RSC forums the non-graphics
dedicated server is still in development and wasn't ready for release
with this MP test.

That's good news indeed, it might indicate that we'd be able to enjoy
a truly stable MP environment in the likes of Q3, UT and so on, based
on Linux or whatever.

cheers, uwe
