Default steering box big nut

I was checking one more time my steering box to trace the knocking noise. Looks like
that the drop arm moves a little up and down making the noise. Can this be solved
by adjusting the big nut on the steering box? I have already adjusted the one on
the top. If yes, how can I do that? What is the size of that nut/screw? I know that
I have to be very cautious.

No, the big nut should not affect the up/down of the drop arm.
It only controls the preload on the wormshaft ball bearings.
Best to leave it alone.

Wear in the roller or in the adjusting screw "pivot" on top
can cause can cause the knocking.

Thanks for your reply. I will follow your good advice and leave it alone. It is
only a little knocking.
I have to replace the shaft boots and clean up the steering box, but I didn't have
the guts to do that yet.
Any site with pictures with that procedure are well come? My fear is on disconnecting
the big fuel line, the one to fill up the tank.
