Default FS: 1976 Dodge Royal Monaco (revised)


FOR SALE: 1976 Dodge Royal Monaco for $1,000: 182,265 miles, 4-door sedan, 6
passenger, 18.8 feet long, 360 cubic inches (5.9 liters) 8 cylinder engine,
power steering, power brakes, cruise, automatic transmission, all molding &
badges, over $1,000 new parts/labors/receipts.

A grocery-getter, garaged daily from 5/1989 to 10/2004, then under tarp
daily & started every 3 days for 6 minutes when not in use through 2006.

Differential's pinion nut's torque slightly out of adjustment; loosened in
2004, then set to 100 pounds (lbs.) (should be at least 210 lbs.),
afterwards automobile driven 1,100 miles in 6 to 70 mile trips up to 65
miles per hour.

Front bumper cushions (five-mile-per-hour absorbers) rusting; spare front &
rear included.

Air conditioner's front seal leaking; three replaced since 1989 for average
life of four years.

RECENT NEW PARTS, MILEAGE ON THEM, RECEIPT IF AVAILABLE AND SOME PRICES:

1. High performance exhaust from engine to tail pipe except catalytic
converter; 1,402 miles; receipt; $422.61.

2. All tie rod ends, strut bushings & stabilizer links; 640 miles; receipt;
$422.98.

3. Regular undercoats. Chassis & floor boards are solid. Last undercoat
11/2003; 2,385 miles; receipt; $146.02. Doors' bottom, quarter panels'
bottom & front bumper support bottom rusting. A 150 pound person can stand
on bumpers; a Dodge collector said bumper support isn't critically rusted.
Small areas of body rusting; needs body work & paint.

4. Radiator flushed & new 5-year antifreeze set to -70 degrees in September
2004; 1,177 miles; receipt.

5. Radiator; 8,653 miles; receipt; $271.46.

6. Front brakes; 2,986 miles.

7. Spark plugs; 6,285 miles; receipt.

8. Oil, filter and lube; 24 miles; receipt; $12.85.

9. Radiator cap; 1,394 miles.

10. All belts: 2 fan and 1 power steering; 1,348 miles; receipt.

11. Air filter; 1,692 miles.

12. Alternator upgraded for more amperage.

Notes:

When in storage from 12/2005 to now, battery always started the automobile
every three days.

Automobile is factory rated at 15 miles per gallon (MPG); now getting 15
MPG.

"Chrysler Body Service Manual" & "Chilton's Manual" included.

In 2001: extensive chassis undercoating, repair of rust holes in cowl,
heater inlet resealed, cowl/firewall junction resealed, door handles removed
for rust repair then reattached.

In 1986, top of engine & transmission rebuilt (90,000 miles ago; receipts).

Receipts: most parts/labors since 3/1986.

Microsoft & Lotus spreadsheets contain all repairs, their dates & mileage
since 1995.

Chrysler Production Broadcast Sheet (papers) included.

Passed State of Ohio emission test 3/2000; no further test required because
automobile is over 25 years old.

I purchased the Monaco 5/1989 @ 121,009 miles, drove 61,256 miles in 17.25
years (61,256/17.5 = 3,500 miles/year).

Sounds like you have spent alot of money trying to keep that Monaco out of
the junkyard where it belongs

People can love a car all they want, but it is always a shame to see them spend huge amounts of money on a vehicle that will never
have a significant value. Happens all the time though.

Most vehicles will "never have a significant value", so the money you spend
is do-it-yourself maintenance for transportation. It doesn't seem like a
lot of money when you have no car payments .... Save a lot of cash on
insurance, too.
