Default Alfa 147 1.6 TS leaking power steering fluid

Hi folks

I posted a topic a few weeks back because my 147 petrol was making a
"diesel" sounding noise when it starts up as well as a whirring noise
when I turn the wheel. Thanks for the replies for this.

This noise went away when I topped up the power steering fluid but when
I checked the level tonight (2 weeks later) it was almost empty! Any
ideas where I should check for leaks for this?

Not really, but maybe lay some clean paper under the engine compartment
and leave it overnight, followed by application of a plumb-line the
following morning?

Mine was in a puddle on the garage floor. Leaked out overnight, but not
when driving. AA man couldn't find the leak... he jacked the car up, turned
the wheel from end to end, hoping to pressurise the system and make a
leak obvious... eventually gave up, reckoned it must be hidden under a
cover or something, Garage found it ok, said it was a split hose. They
had to replace two though, because the two were moulded as one item.

I had the opposite problem wit the 155. Nothing on the drive, then nothing
in the reservoir. I reckon there was a split in the space / time
continuum.

Very odd, that was.

I think it must have been burning off somewhere.
