Default Golf power point question

I am looking at installing my own mp3 playback system in my 2003 Golf TDI.
I plan on using the 12VDC power point in the trunk (boot). However, I've
noticed this plug always has power. Is there a simple way to change this
so that the power point only has power when the car is running or the
ignition is on? It would be OK if the needed change made this outlet and
the front cig lighter plug both be only powered when the car is running.

Probably via the ignition switch circuit, but you will need to consult a
good service manual to see how to access the switch and to determine the
correct wires to splice in to. Is there a Bentley service manual for your
vehicle?

Read your radio manual and use the wires from there? You use the blue wire
instead of the red one or something can't remember which.
