Dunno who is describing me, but I copied and pasted the quote straight from the GCR. What's so hard to understand? Every race car must have towing eyes; if the stock ones meet (or can be modified to meet) the specs, you can use them. If you add new towing eyes, you may remove the OEM ones. I'm having some difficulty envisioning a plausible alternate purpose for OEM towhooks, though. I propose a contest! -- Lanny Chambers '94C, St. Louis http://www.hummingbirds.net/alignment.html |

I say make them into earrings! -alex- (who's 90b still had the eyes when he sold it last month because they came in handy when trailing the car when he moved each year)... 05 Nordic Green with hooks! |

What's so hard to understand? Just read the sentence. As written, it says you can modify, replace or remove the hooks. That is equivalent to no policy at all. The only "content" of the rule seems to be the last part which prohibits using the hooks for another purpose. Taken literally, the first part of the sentence is irrelevant, which is why it can be confusing. It is probably meant to clarify, but it just creates confusion, detracting attention from the meat of the rule. |

Bear in mind that the SCCA GCR is a "permissive" rulebook: if it doesn't say you CAN do something, then you cannot. An absence of policy would mean you can't mess with it. It's a point-of-view issue. -- Lanny Chambers '94C, St. Louis http://www.hummingbirds.net/alignment.html |

The new purpose must be intended to get the car around the track more quickly. Even if it requires an alternative physics model and/or significant suspension of disbelief. -- Lanny Chambers '94C, St. Louis http://www.hummingbirds.net/alignment.html |

towhooks contest...
Wow, you'all are having a great time with the tow hooks ehh? The
factory ones are still there, but I am removing them to install SCCA racing spec hooks that I bought from saferacer.com The rules do call for tow hooks like you guys said, and Mazdaspeed Motorsports development sells a set but they are unpainted and $50 with tax and shipping. Saferacers were painted orange already, and $40 without tax. When I remove the tow hooks I make sure to let everyone know, I'll have em on ebay ha, ha. If you guys need any other parts from the car some of them are on ebay right now, get'em while they last! Lanny Chambers wrote: > In article <43A26850.2070109@_copper_dot_net>, > "Alex M.
