95 YJ Starter issues
I bought my jeep and there was a short in the under dash harness
causing dash lights to go out and the radio to smoke when plugged in but it ran fine. So I decided to install a new dash harness in. Everything went well and had it swapped out in a couple of hours. The problem is that when I turn the key there is nothing. No click from the starter nothing in the relay. There is no difference from run to start position on the key. Any help would be great. Was there under hood damage too? Did you do any wiring under the hood?
I see the two green wires on the starter relay mixed up lots after a harness fix. First, pay attention to Mike!!!.
Then if the wire to the starter solenoid from that relay is correct, take a paper clip and jumper from the +12 side of the relay to that relay contact [first pull the relay of course] output with the key on. Should start. If that works, you'll need to chase back to see what is wrong with the path coming in from the key. Quick cheap voltmeter and continuity check works here. ?Dunno if the Cherokee has a transmission ground switch or not, that can also make it fail.
