"November 20,2008 - Watkins Glen coming soon to iRacing
One of the most anticipated venues to be included in iRacing’s stable
of tracks is just about set to make its debut. Watkins Glen
International, one of the crown jewels of American road racing, will
be available to iRacing members on November 26th.

Nestled in the picturesque Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York,
The Glen hosts one of just two road races on the NASCAR Sprint Cup
schedule. The birthplace of American sportscar racing, it’s also home
to one of the cornerstone Grand-Am race meets, an IndyCar event and in
early September each year, a major historic and vintage race festival.
A highlight of The Glen’s past was its two-decade tenure as home of
Formula One’s U.S. Grand Prix (1961-80.)"

and pay-per-race accounts.

Shame I'm not a stock car, or oval fan. All I want is to be able to run the
R8 in off-line praccy and pay for the odd race when I feel like it. But
iRacing just doesn't cater for the casual racer.

What I like, is hearing how "casual" you are.

You are just Casually demanding that you should get special treatment? do
you get to pay cable "as you watch?" no. same with 99% of the cell phone
plans out there, and internet connections. when you goto a movie theater,
do you buy "just a handful of popcorn, cause that is all I want, not that
box full..."

For what it is worth, with cheap whiners like you, I have yet found a
reasonable "per webpage viewed" charge model, for renting internet
connections that would make you as happy. least not one that makes it worth
me or anyone else's while to provide such a service to you or others like
you (what, 10 people max?). when we had free, so said anyhow (NR2003 and
the add ons that gave you what, 7 different cars to drive, we still had the
problem that "not everyone was happy" with the service, let alone the
person/company responsible for providing the servers that you "ran" on. Did
you NOT know that most people rented the servers, and out of the "goodness"
of their generosity "let you race on them" when they were not being used by
a league or what not? Papy provided the chat room, and what, 3 race servers
from day one. Right now a decent server and bandwidth to "multi-player" on,
costs about 40-70 bucks a month. We have one for America's army, and one
for the league we ran for rFactor, they cost that much. divided by the few
members that will pitch in on the monthly payments for that server, it is
still about 15 bucks a month each, for a 20 person server. Same for BF 1942
and just about any other game you want to mention, that is multiplayer, and
online real time.

What you demand is MOSTLY Communistic type non capitalism: They have what
you want, you just want "everyone else to pay for you to use it". 13 bucks
a month, ****, I spent more than that on gas to driving to the farm to work
on my cars and other stuff, so don't sit there and whine all the time about
it being TOOOO expensive. Give up one medium pizza per month, if on a tight
budget, and go race online damn. sure you want more toppings (tracks and
cars) you pay for them, but unlike Pizza, once I own "pepperoni" (i.e.
Watkins
glen) or Extra Cheese (i.e. Craftsman trucks), I don't have to pay for that
topping again, no matter how many times I want it on my pizza this week.

So the obvious is, enjoy the hell out of rfactor, and other games, that you
get for (quote) free, from those people who will let you on the servers they
pay for... Meanwhile Ill be on iRacing, about every other night, modifying
my iRating, and safety ratings, and grinning ear to ear...
