Default Blinker on a 1995 Ford Ranger

My blinker has problems. For some reason it only works when I turn
right. Every now and then the left will work, but most of the time it
does not. I think it is a problem with the blinker machanism in my
steering wheel. It seems like it is not making contact or something.

1) Has anyone else had this problem?
2) How could I fix it?
3) How much is a new blinker unit and where could I get one?

Thank you,
Anthony

Check if any pins are pushed out of the connector on the switch .
The pins come loose sometimes and make a bad connection.
Also check the hazard lite switch.turn it on\off a couple of times.
Dirt and corrosion inside the switch make a bad connection.

Thank you for the reply.

In order to do this, do I have to disassemble the dash in order to get
to the switch?

This is a good point, in the past, sometimes this has helped.

Your flasher relay is likely going bad. It is a $10 part at any auto parts
store.

No
You have to take the trim panel and that metal plate off under the steering
kolom, then take the screws(3?) out the plastic cover around the steering
kolom and yank it out, it is a little pita to align it when you put it back.
