Default SRS light stays on ... Honda Accord 2000

Honda Accord EX 2000, 4DR, 5Spd, 74K miles, one owner, no accidents so
far, no major repairs except routine maintenance.

Today I started the car and after all the self tests, the SRS (Air Bag
System) light stayed on. I looked in the operating manual it says take
it to the dealer. I do have a shop manual with detailed diagrams for
trouble shooting. Can you carbuffs tell me is this something simple to
diagnose or should I see a Honda dealer. Also, is it OK to drive.
Thanks in advance.

Call the dealer. My 2003 Civic had the SRS light come on. My Honda is
covered under a free diagnostic forever. They don't charge for diagnosing
the problem, although repairs may or may not be covered. In my case, it was
either a $400 module, or a low battery that set the fault condition. They
reset the fault condition. Since this happened after leaving the lights
on and draining the battery, I am picking door #2.

I suppose there would be no problem driving the car, except I presume that
the airbag would not be armed.
