Heck if I know what I'm posting here - maybe I was thinking that
bus drivers are so good they never make mistakes?

No, I think the "yeild" sticker on the back of the bus
relieves them from looking for a break in traffic, so they
start to feel like they don't have to any defensive driving.

My personal favorite is when a car pulls up next to a bus in
traffic, as the bus has the four way flashers on at a stop. Then
as they sit stopped next to the left side of the bus, the driver
changes from four ways to left turn signal, and pulls out, cutting
them off.

Yup, the bus will run the car right off the road rather than yield.

I still haven't gotten an answer on the driving-around-with-high-beams
on thing. Metro says it's not standard practice and to report any bus
driving with the highs on, but they ALL still do it - but of course who
can get the number of a bus coming at you with high beams on?

Wait until it passes and then read the number off the back?

Back in present-day America...

As your co-worker's uncle is being dragged away in handcuffs, the
asshole bus driver says back, "And that's for felony assault of a
transit operator!"

How's the unconscious bus driver going to catch the uncle?

Probably thanks to a member of the Concerned Citizens with Cell Phones
Brigade™ (AKA the "Rat *******s"), who happens to be riding the bus,
calling the police.

Most buses are equipped with two--sometimes three--video cameras and a
digital recording system.

If this story you are telling is actually true--in the present day as
opposed to years in the past--the transit officials can just review the
recordings of that day's events and get a positive ID of who they are
looking for.
