Purchasing GTR Evolution through Steam from NZ

I am desperately keen to purchase a copy of the full version of GTR
Evolution. Unfortunately I am having huge problems finding a copy here
in New Zealand.
Is it possible to purchase GTR Evo through Steam from NZ? Although I
am keen to obtain a copy of the full version, I would really prefer to
have a DVD copy of the game, rather than the downloaded version from
Steam. Is it possible to burn the downloaded game onto a DVD for backup
purposes, in case I lose the downloaded game?
As you can tell I don't know much about Steam, so any help would be
greatly appreciated. I purchased Half Life 2 from a local store, which
of course requires Steam, but I only use that in offline mode, and have
had no problems running the game. I have no interest in running GTR Evo
online (not at the moment anyway), so running in offline mode would be a
priority.
Purchasing the game through Amazon is not an option, as they don't
mail software outside the US. I assume the Steam version of the game
will be a US version?? Will that be a problem for me here in NZ?
Anyone here from NZ have a copy of GTR Evo, even the expansion version?

I would like to know about Steam too. If I go online and look up to
Steam, will I need a cd key or anything? Haven't seen one, wasn't
required for installation, but I'm holding on to the packaging for a
while. I keep a backup hidden copy of Windows and sometimes revert
to a known good copy of Windows, I wonder if Steam will cause any
problems when doing so.

All you ever need with Steam is your user name and password. Then you can
set up Steam, and all your Steam-bought games, on any PC you are,
anywhere in the world. As long as you never try to log on to the same
account twice at the same time, it's a remarkably flexible system.

I was wary at first, but after several years I'm increasingly inclined to
trust it. This may turn out to be foolish if Steam ever goes under, but
it seems to be gaining widespread support now, and the convenience of not
having to hunt for CDs is worth the risks IMO. The worst that happens in
the event of a HD crash is that you have to re-install Steam and download
everything again... though there are backup options which I've never
explored. (In an age of cheap hard disk space I mirror my important
partitions onto spare HDs).

Best way to backup Steam games is to just backup the whole Steam folder to
an external HDD. Then when you format and reinstall everything you just
install Steam client so registry values are added and then let the backup
Steam folder overwrite the new Steam folder, voila, all your steam games
are reinstalled with minimal effort. I found using the Steam backup option
is very timely to backup and resinstall from. The method I posted is very
quick though.

At $18 delivered from Amazon in 2 days (I'm a Prime member), what the hell.
I ordered it.

I am under no illusions though. I'm sure I will develop ISI-Itis shortly
after installing it.

But for $18 I'll give it a try.
