Not once you fix them :-)

Sometimes repairs all seem to come at once and you get a big bill. But
when you compare the cost of running an older car don't forget to allow
for the depreciation you'd pay on something newer.

If the car is in good shape rust wise then I'd carry on fixing it. Most
of these items aren't dear if you buy the parts mail order and learn to
do the work yourself.

Well, what you need is a better mechanic. Didn't they check the drive belt
pulleys while they were fixing the water pump?
Didn't they check the wheel bearings while replacing the disks?

You would have saved a lot of labor costs if they had checked everything
else while the car was apart.

Mechanics like that will result in excessive repair costs on any car (all
car parts are quite expensive these days).
