GTR full release vs. demo framerates

Are framerates dramatically affected by the number of *different* cars on
track in the full release vs. the demo? In the demo, I'm happy with the
performance with 20 cars, but it's only two unique texture sets (Morgan and
Lister). Are these loaded into graphics memory as if they were 20 unique
cars to give a realistic idea of performance in the full release?
