Default Spinners and gas mileage

I was watching one of those vehicles with the
interesting spinner wheels going down the freeway
at about 70 with the spinner part looking like it
was only going 10 or so.

Does anyone know what effect these things would
have on gas mileage?

I assume that they add unsprung weight which would
be detrimental to handling on the SUV that they are
usually attached to, but I can't reason out the
effect on mileage or accelerations.

I assume that they spin pretty freely, so the friction
wouldn't be much of an issue in accelerating from a
stop nor would it effect highway mileage much.

I'm not saying the effect is zero, but it must be
less than 1%. Things like tire pressure would
matter much more.
