Default Audi S4 Turbo Failure Warning

I recently bought a 2001 S4. It has 91000 miles on it and I'm worried
that the turbos might go soon. Is there any sort of warning that I can
look out for? Do the turbos make any strange noises when they start to
fail?

Also, I don't know if the timing belt has been replaced. Is there any
sort of warning for that as well?

I would greatly appreciate any advice you could give me. Thanks.

Turbos usually last quite long considering what they do. drop in performance is
what I would look for but if they fail you will probably not have advance
notice. You might also notice white smoke from the exhaust and consumption of
coolant. If one does go bad I would suggest replacing both at the same time.

The timing belt does not have any indicators but you don't even want to think
about the consequences if it dose fail. If you are not sure of a previous
replacement, do it now. Be sure to replace the tensioner, front seal, water pump
when doing the T belt. Sometimes the water pump will cause T belt failure.

I don't know about the turbo but if the timing belt goes, the only sign
you're liable to get is the delightful - and expensive - sounds of valves
colliding with pistons.
