Yes we did rent an RV in 2000. And in fact, this vacation we have an
RV for our first week from July,2nd to July 9th, from San Francisco to
Las Vegas.
But we only take an RV for a short period, because it has some
disadvantages:
- you have to pay for every mile you drive
- there is a high one way rental (we avoided the $375 for SF to LV by
booking ealy)
- it's difficult to drive in cities with the bulky RV

So taking it for a week and staying in the wildnerness (Yes we got
Campgrounds in Yosimete HURRAY) is perfect, but for a longer time,
well...

Yes, you can ..for the liability part..

Is it true in all state in US? In CA (I just moved here) this guy
from enterprise told me that I was required to buy...

Whenever I rented the car in the past except this last time in CA, I
could use the liability portion -(that is if I hit another car, my
insurance will take care of theat car- of the car insurance for the
car I own ON the rental car but I would have to pay for the damage to
the rental car out of my pocket UNLESS I buy the optional insurance
FROM the rental agency.

If you don' own a car in US and have no car insurance plan( eith
liability as th law required or the full coverage plan, you can just
buy both liabilty portion and optional portion for the rental car from
the rental agency...but tht would be expensive...

You do not need to own car to buy liabilty plan; you can get a
non-qoners insurance plan but not all car insurance company sells
that plan...and alos, you being a tourist, they (those who seels
non-owner's insurance plan) would know that you are planning to rent
cars and so I am not sure how expensive that would be...

Hope this helps..

If anyone t=feels that my info is incorrect, pleaes correct me...

You also may want to check with your credit card company. Many companies
will provide automatic coverage if the rental was placed on their card. This
is something that the rental cars fleets really don't want you to know, but
is a very common practice with card companies.
