Default driving on flat tyre ?

I have a 156 1.8TS 1999. Last night I noticed that the rear left tyre is
flat. There is a tyre centre around 100m up the road - am I OK to drive
it that far or must I put the space-saver on for this very short trip ?

Driving any distance on a flat tyre will wreck it. The tyre centre will
probably refuse to repair it anyway unless the hole is in the middle of the
tread. Even if you don't care about the tyre there is a risk of damaging the
wheel. If it was mine, I would pump some air into it then drive it to the
garage quickly, before it went flat again.

How far do you think you were driving on it before you noticed? If it was
any real distance at all, IME the tyre is wrecked and you'll need a new one
anyway. 100m won't make any difference. If you're sure it's only just
gone flat, then stick the saver on, you might save some cash.

Stopped within about 20m of noticing the 'rumbling' sound: I was only
doing about 15-20mph at the time. I recon I'll put the saver on to be
safe...

Well, in the end I got the wheel off - having to lie under the rear of
thecar and give it a good kicking ! Looks like some little **** has
slashed it.. although as its on the inside and I noticed it after
driving for about 3 miles, it was probably something on the road. Either
way, I need a new tyre !
