Default MY BAD GEICO INSURANCE EXPERIENCE !

I was looking for a cheaper rate on my insurance of 3 cars when I
decided to give geico a call , I couldn't believe it, I would save
over $ 225.00 every 6 months with them if I left my agent I had for 10
years with Allstate Insurance.

Well I decided maybe change was good, boy was that ever a mistake, it
all started with a letter saying I need to get my windshields
inspected, never did this with any other agent or insurance company,
so I called them and basically told them if they want to see the
windows, they can send someone out cause no way was I going to drive
all three vehicles to the inspection station that was 37 miles away.
After a conversation with their supervisor they said to ignore it.

Ok

Then I get a letter several weeks later saying they need information
on a person who at the time I was to marry. boy this was even a bigger
mistake. I told them that the person NEVER LIVED IN my house and only
drove one of the vehicles once in a month to the local store if that,
and in fact we were no longer together so I couldn't supply this info
and I DON'T WANT them on the policy.. Well they came back and said, we
have to have this information or your rate will go up or we may even
cancel you, I told them they were crazy, this person should not be on
my policy and I don't want them on it. they said you have to have all
people in your household on the policy, after telling tem again THEY
DON'T LIVE HERE AND NEVER HAVE, I decided I was getting NO where with
GEICO and it was a big mistake leaving my old agent. DON'T GET ROPED
IN BY LOW RATES THAT ARE TO GOOD TO BE TRUE. GEICO customer service
was terrible and I wonder what actually making a claim would be like
if I had these problems..

GEICO INSURANCE IS TERRIBLE AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IS NOT HERE .. I
AM TOTALLY DISSATISFIED. I WOULD NEVER EVER TELL MY FREINDS TO GET
GEICO NEVER......maybe my enemies yes.

I think they are all as bad as the other. My parents had nationwide for
years. My truck was stolen and I lived away in school. Talking to the
adjuster they tried to talk the prices down on everything, then asked where
I went to school and when I answered him he said he heard there was a lot
of drug activity there (which my school was more nerdy than most and while
it had its share of beer, drugs were rare). I felt like I was on trial. I
was on my parents policy and got all sorts of discounts combined with them.
I left nationwide and went to Allstate and the price was instantly half.
But My truck was broken into in my driveway and some of my tools were
stolen including an oscilloscope that I was experimenting with on the ALDL
connector. The Oscope was old, from 1979 and it was given to me so all I
has was a catalog page from 1979 listing the price as $2000. Allstate
asked me what would be the cost to replace one today so I went to ebay and
found a couple on finished auctions for $200 and told them that. They then
took $200 at 1979 and prorated it to 1996 and made it worth about $2. Then
they prorated all my craftsman tools and this was on homeowners and I had
paid for a replacement policy rider on the policy. I asked why they would
prorate and they said tools wear and get dull, I then said they were
craftsman, if they wear or get dull I take them back to sears and get a
brand new one. So then they told me since I had left them in my truck on a
Sunday night that I must have been using them at my job and they don't
cover mechanics tools. I told them I wasn't a mechanic, I work on
computers, they still quoted their policy that if I used them at my job
they don't cover that. I ended up getting about $100 for $3000 in tools
and switched insurance companies soon after that.

I have heard similar stories, time after time -- they offered me a
rate that was roughly two hundred dollars a year cheaper than American
Family. I signed up, then a week later the SOB's mailed me and asked
if I wanted glass coverage. I foolishly thought that was included! I
said yes, and they charged me enough extra in six months to buy a
freaking windshield. Went to the www.progtressive.com website and
found that State Farm would give me the best rate. THRILLED with
State Farm since then, almost two years ago.

That sounds like GEICO all right. 20 years ago they were an OK
company but they are pure crap now. I've found Liberty Mutual to be
excellent but their rates went up so high I couldn't afford them
anymore. I found the best rates at Century 21 and Progressive. It
seems like insurance rates are all over the board, you really have to
shop your particular situation around. Switching from LM to a
combination of C21 and progressive cut my Insurance costs on 5
vehicles in half AND I had better coverage.

Huh...? LM was the cheapest of them all when I shopped around ~2yrs ago. I
had to go with Progressive as I didn't have my US driver's licence then, and
they charged me roughly twice LMs price. Switched to LM as soon as possible
at 40$/month.

When I first went with LM several years ago they were the cheapest.
Now, 6 years later, they are the most expensive. This has happened
with every insurance company I have ever had. They seem to have two
sets of rates, one set to get you to switch to them, and then they
start jacking the rates up each year and hope you won't shop around.
Same thing happened with State Farm AUto Ins too. I started with
state farm, switched to GEICO to save money, then had to switch to
American INternational to save money, then had to switch to Nationwide
to save money, then had to switch to LM to save money, and most
recently had to switch to Progressive and Century 21 to save money. I
expect that in 3 to 4 years I'll wind up switching again as the rates
go up.
