Default possible transmission problems

I took my 2001 SL2 for a 90K service at Saturn. They changed the
transmission fluid and said everything was fine with the transmission.
Next day while backing out I noticed that it slips when I put it in
reverse. Basically, whenever I start the engine and put the car in
reverse it slips. It did it while I was just driving on the road few
times as well. I don't want to take it back to the dealer. Went to a
transmission mechanic who said that I have a 3 second delay (whatever that
means). He said he would research the problem but that it was too early for
that car to have transmission problems. Has anybody had a problem like
that? Please help.

Does it then "slam" into reverse gear? If so, you may have the infamous
reverse slam. See details at:
http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/arc...p/t-23670.html

Also make sure they used the correct fluid and filter and it is properly to
the full line.

If it really was ok before they changed the fluid, then they could have
misfilled it. if it's too low *or* too high, you can have problems.

Properly check the fluid *now* and get the problems fixed ASAP. Unlike
most things, the longer you sit on a transmission problem, the bigger
the risk of HUGE damage and a rebuild. We're talking minor to major in
100 miles, here.

If it's too low, then add the extra fluid and you should be goopd
if it's too high, then suck the extra out. Either way, check the fluid
for signs of burnt stuff.

When I took it to the transmission shop the guy first checked the fluid and
did not say that there was anything wrong with the fluid level. In fact,
he did not know what the problem was. He was supposed to research it. I
called him twice and he said that he could not find anything about it in
any books and that he was going to call Saturn. Maybe I should find
another transmission shop. It is all very frustrating.

Believe it or not I know an honest transmission shop...!!!
The man said it is the valve body....about $400 to replace.....I wonder how
many people have paid over $1,000 for the same problem...???
