Default 1999 3 Series convertible

OK, I've figured out that the E46 started in 1999. My question is
specifically about the convertible. Did the older model carry over into the
1999 model year, or is the first year of the E46 convertible 1999.

Bottom line, 1999 or 2000?

Thanks,

Tom

First E46 model year was 1999 for the sedan, 2000 for the coupe &
convertible. IIRC, one change was the lined top and glass rear window with
defroster on the E46. This made the interior much quieter with the top up.
I believe there were also some suspension differences & the obvious styling
changes between the E36 & E46. Drivetrains were pretty similar until the
330 (2002?).

convertibles are never released same model year due to product scheduling
concerns.

they always carry over the current model design a year or year and a half.
