Default MOMO combined axis problem

I've just done a complete system reinstall including:

Win XP SP2
Logi Wingman software ver 4.40
Fresh install of GPL

Problem is I can't get GPL to recognize separate axis for gas and brake on
my MOMO Force (Red) wheel. I've un-checked and re-checked the Report
Combined Pedals box in both the Logi Wingman software and Game Controllers a
dozen times, but GPL refuses to recognize them as anything but a combined
axis.

Using the limited travel of the MOMO pedals is challenging enough as it is,
I sure would appreciate any suggestions to help solve this.

TIA,
arny
