99 Gr Caravan got water/mud in engine, thoughts
Due to a bad mistake, I buried the van into some mud and muddy water. In
the process it sucked the muddy water into the engine (why is the stupid intake so freaking low). Anyway, got it home, hosed it down and with advice from the tow truck driver disconnected the intake from the engine and got it started. But it now has a really bad knock. I changed the muddy oil out and put a heavier oil with a valve conditioner, but it still knocks. Ok, thoughts? The engine is a 3.3L. How easy/difficult will it be to locate another 3.3 and swap the engine? Is it possible to replace it with a 3.8 instead? I am not panicking, but I would like to have some direction. Thanks a lot, Tony |

Buy a can of motor flush and follow the directions on the can. This will
be alot cheaper than a new motor you dont need. |

The knocking could be a bent rod. In that case motor flush does nothing.
And you should have changed out the oil before you started the engine. "BRIAN" > wrote in message ... > Buy a can of motor flush and follow the directions on the can. This will > be alot cheaper than a new motor you dont need. > |

I did the motor flush thing, so I am starting to agree with you about the
bent rod. But how would the rod bend in this case. It did not start knocking until the engine actually started. I was thinking it might be a stuck valve. I think I am going to drive it over to the dealership tomorrow and let them take a look and give me the bad news. Maybe I will be lucky, I doubt it, but who knows. Also, I know I probably should not drive it there. I am going to see what it will cost to get it towed over there instead. I don't want to use up my AAA tows on this. Any more thoughts is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tony "deadbeat" > wrote in message news:_Zd6d.117618$yh.66042@fed1read05... > The knocking could be a bent rod. 3.3 is REAL easy to find. Lots of them out there.
Personally I would pull that one apart and see just how bad it is.
