Default 2006 Kia Sportage Odometer

Sunday I am pulling(towing) my 06 Sportage across country. 5,000 miles
to California, another 5,000 back to New England.

What do people do to not show the mileage? Can one disable the
odometer for a trip?

I looked at the owner's manual and all it showed was a "cluster" fuse.
That implies the dashboard.

Thanks.

Gerry

AH, so you want us to tell you how to cheat the manufacturer
(warranty), and the next owner of your car? You sound like such a
wonderful person, I hope I never meet you or buy anything you have
ever owned. Your honesty is overwhelming to say the least.

Flat towing vehicles can be risky. Are you sure you can flat-tow the
Kia without transmission damage?

That aside, most newer vehicles have electronic controls for the speedo
& odometer. "Back in the day" working at the RV shop we would install a
speedo disconnect solenoid in the speedo cable, so that when towing
behind a motorhome, the vehicle would not register mileage. It would
receive a trigger from the tail lights on the motorhome, and disconnect
only then.

If you are really worried about it, try a tow dolly or auto trailer from
U-Haul. That might be the easiest solution.

Clay
